IVCF Stanford Ministry Update

Dear friends and family,

As many of you know I am in the final stretch of my ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Stanford with just over 7 months left.  About a month ago I wrote a letter to those who have financially supported the ministry over the past 13 years.  In that letter I reflect on where the ministry has come from and where it is going. I invite you to read it at:

Coming Revival?

While we still are unable to have amplified music at our fellowship meetings, it is clear that God can work without external amplification! As a community we have grown more prayerful and expectant for God to reveal Himself to those around us.  We are seeing students in our fellowship turning to God in some deep and meaningful ways. At a recent all campus prayer time one student leader’s public confession of sin inspired other groups of students to share and confess their own hidden sins.  As they confessed to one another they experienced fuller sense of forgiveness and freedom from shame.  Our hope is growing that we will be witnesses to a revival on campus.

During this time I have meet with a few students who are exploring Christianity and wanted help sorting through their barriers to belief.  One women from China shared that she had experienced tremendous blessings in her life and always sensed that she should be thankful. Until recently she never knew who to thank.  As her barriers to belief are coming down she is beginning to see that God has been revealing Himself to her. Please join us in praying that this woman and many others would come to know the one to whom they can be eternally grateful.

A year ago the staff in our area felt a clear call from God to become more deeply rooted in His love and sent out with powerful testimonies. It is exciting to see how God is at work bringing this vision He gave us to pass.

Family news

Nathan and Joey both continue to bring a lot of joy and excitement to our lives.  Nathan at 9 months is now standing up.  He is delighted with himself as he pulls himself to an upright position.  The last few days he has begun to let go from whatever he was holding onto, only to teeter for a moment before gravity overcomes his wobbly legs. While crying usually ensues, he gets up and tries again. He is growing up so fast.

Joey is still full of joy and energy.  He is now singing worship songs and is fascinated with Jesus and the cross.  He also loves playing with Legos and rhyming words with people’s names.   While he is slow to warm up to new people once he becomes comfortable, watch out!  We have no new information about his tumor to report and for us no news is good news.  Thank you for all your love and prayers for our family.

With faith, hope and love,

Jon Paris

We know that times are tough in these days and for many of us money is tight but your support for us and the ministry is both welcomed and deeply appreciated. To give visit: www.ivcf.org/donate
