Joey's preschool teacher is retiring after over 30 years of teaching at the same school and the San Jose Mercury news put him on the front page of the Peninsula section. Joey's photo made it to the on-line edition, (but not the hard copy). Here's the link to the article: http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_9499244?IADID=Search-www.mercurynews.com-www.mercurynews.com
Joey has been increasingly curious about spiritual matters. He expressed interest in having Jesus in his "tummy" when he found out the Jon and I both had Jesus inside us. (There was Communion on Sunday.) I talked to him about how Jesus took the punishment for the bad things we do and asked him if he wanted to have Jesus in him too. Joey nodded yes and he repeated as best as he could, "I ask Jesus to forgive me for my sins. I believe that Jesus took my place on the cross. I ask him to be my Lord and Savior." Then Joey lifted up his shirt and said, "Jesus is not in my tummy."
There is no update on Joey's tumor in part because his last MRI was canceled because he had a cold. We will keep all of you informed when we have more information.
Nathanael's now 4 months old and doing great. He turned over from his tummy to back for the first time at his pediatrician's office on Wednesday. Dr. Chan promptly turned him over again and he did it a second time. We're really proud of him.
Jon and I are enjoying the beginning of summer as he finishes up his sabbatical while I have a almost two months left of maternity leave. This next week Jon is entering back into student ministry by leading a week long seminar for recent Stanford graduates on Catalina Island. You could pray for this coming week for Jon and the students and for Joey, Nathan and I as we spend the week with at my mom's house.
Warmly,
Jane
